Product Code: 31347f

One of a kind hand crafted necklace featuring a 3 part geometric pendant with a dotty industrial design and hung on a plaited black leather cord.

This pendant features 3 separate hand crafted components; a teardrop shaped pendant with an assortment of holes, recessed and raised round spots giving rise to different depths and texture, attached to a wire wrapped link with a gorgeous deep orange Mexican Fire Agate bead and these hang from the leather necklace by means of a hand crafted tube bail featuring more round spots, both recessed and raised.

The necklace has been made by me in a pink bronze metal clay called Desert Sun, which has a high copper content, but is officially a bronze.  So I think it would satisfy both requirements for either a bronze, or copper piece, as the middle beaded section and clasp area are solid copper too.

The pendant hangs 60mm (2.3") overall and is 14mm (>½") at the widest.  The leather necklace would be finished to order for you, so please let me have your required length during checkout.  I would suggest that it would look best worn at collarbone length, so something in the region of 17" or 18", depending on personal fit and taste.  The necklace finishes with a bound copper cord end and hook and loop clasp and this can be seen in the additional photographs.

What is metal clay?

Metal clay (now available in base metals like copper, bronze, iron, steel and brass and precious metals like silver and even gold) is a clay like medium made from tiny particles of metal, combined with an organic binder and made into a pliable clay or paste with water. After working with the clay-like medium to form the article, it is thoroughly dried to remove all of the water, the shape is further refined and then fired at very high temperature in a kiln to both burn off the binders and to cause the metal particles to fuse together as solid metal - this firing takes a full day to complete - at which time I tend to work with crossed fingers, hoping that the kiln gods are smiling on me that day and it fires successfully.   Not everything does.
