Midnight scene pendant with deep blue cabochon

Large oval pendant featuring a hand sculpted natural scene, leaf-set with a midnight blue vintage glass cabochon.  

The pendant represents many hours of work - each tiny sculptural element has been created by hand and meticulously added to the scene with tweezers, under a magnifier.  Each blade of grass, leaf, seed head and ball has been individually shaped and the scene built piece by piece.  

I wanted the scene to look like a night scene under moonlight and the deep blue pool is added with a deep blue glass vintage cabochon which has been set to the pendant with individual copper leaves.

The pendant drops 46mm (1.8") overall from the antiqued solid copper belcher chain and is 30mm (1.15") at its widest.  It is 8mm (0.3") deep at the cabochon.

Chain length:

The chain fastens with my own hook and loop clasp and will be supplied 18" (460mm) in length by default, but if you'd like a different length (up to 30" within this price), please let me know in the comment box during checkout and I'll make something else to order for you.

Please note that as chains are made to order for each customer, they are polished to match the pendant, where the ones used in photographs are 'prop' chains that don't necessarily match as well, as they are used for more than one design


Ooops price!

This pendant is being sold at a vastly reduced price as it is less than perfect, although the fault can't be seen from the front during wear.    There is a crack on the back and has been repaired and whilst I am confident that this does not affect the structural integrity in any way, it is purely cosmetic.  But having finished the piece properly before deciding what to do with it, I decided that it was still pretty enough and represents many hours of work, that it would be a shame for someone not to enjoy wearing it.

When firing metal clay, especially the base metal clays like copper and bronze, despite meticulous care and appropriate preparation, you find yourself in the lap of the kiln gods and sometimes pieces develop faults during firing (which takes several hours) that maybe you can explain and some that you can't.  This piece developed a split part way through the back, which I've since filled and re-fired.  I'm confident that the piece is structurally sound, but the back isn't very pretty.  I've shown some photos of the fault in the additional photographs, so please ensure that you're happy to embrace the individuality and nature of this piece before purchasing.
