Green opal and copper earth tones necklace

I decided that the lovely earthy colours of these small green opal beads needed an earthy treatment. I went with a rustic theme and deliberately didn't smooth and polish as much as I usually do.

The central core feature of this necklace is a hammered and distressed heavy gauge copper ring (soldered closed), which has been attached to the antiqued copper chain of the necklace with wire wrapped around the ring and extended into little loops through the chain. I've further accented it with two wraps of Sterling silver wire.

The bottom of the ring is festooned with small beads of green opal, wire wrapped on my own hand made copper ball ended pins. The necklace closes with my own hand crafted hook and loop fastening. The entire set has been antiqued by oxidising it to black, then polishing back the proud surfaces to leave it with the look of a long cherished heirloom.

The chain of the necklace is interrupted part way along with a pair of green opals wire wrapped into the chain with antiqued copper, which measures 510mm (20") overall in length - which can be shortened if you would like - I left it deliberately long as it can't be lengthened. The copper ring is 20mm (0.85") in diameter and the central 'pendant' drops 31mm (1¼") overall from the chain.
