Copper and green jade necklace and earring set with crackled charms

Antiqued copper and green jade necklace and earring set featuring solid copper clay square charms which have been impressed with a crackled pattern that has been infilled in turquoise and green patina colours. The antiqued copper charms are accompanied by matching micro faceted green jade beads.

The feature charms on the necklace and earrings have been hand made from copper clay, impressed with a random crackled texture, cut and hand shaped and later highly polished and antiqued to form the pattern. The texture has been further highlighted by filling the pattern with turquoise and metallic green Gilders Paste.

The necklace features a single curved square pendant that has been top drilled and hangs on a large double wrapped beaded loop with one of the gorgeous green jade beads. The top loop attaches directly to a chunky rollo / belcher chain necklace, wire wrapped in the front section with further green jade beads.

The earrings feature smaller matching charms double wire wrapped with the jade beads and hanging from classic shaped earwires.

Copper clay is a clay like medium made from tiny particles of copper (other metals are available too), combined with an organic binder and made into a pliable clay or paste with water. After working with the clay-like medium to form the article, it is thoroughly dried to remove all of the water, the shape is then further refined and then fired at high temperature to both burn off the binders and to cause the copper particles to fuse together as solid metal. Whilst the medium makes it possible to achieve things not possible with other metal forms, it is still quite time-consuming and there are several stages to achieving a nice finish. The earrings drop 48m (1.9") overall from the top of the earwires and hang 17mm (0.65") at their widest in wear. The pendant drops 52mm (2") overall from the chain and is 22mm (0.85") at its widest in wear. There are 6 further green jade beads within the front section of chain, 3 on each side.

The chain for the necklace is currently 640mm (25") in length, but could be shortened to taste upon request, please let me know your requirements during checkout.
