Amber and copper oval charm earrings

Product Code: 24716f
Amber bead and antiqued copper earrings featuring a pair of large pair of curved and textured oval copper clay charms beneath warm brown amber beads.
The large featured oval charms have been hand made from copper clay, impressed with my own hand drawn abstract texture, cut, shaped and later highly polished and antiqued to highlight the pattern. The ovals hang and move freely at the bottom of wire wrapped drops.
I bought the beads as 'amber' but they originate from India and whilst they certainly feel like amber and are very pretty, I don't feel that I can truly certify them as amber. They are a lovely warm brown translucent colour and have pearly swirls within them.
The copper has been antiqued to enhance the textures and patterns and all cut ends have been filed and polished smooth for your comfort.
Copper clay is a clay like medium made from tiny particles of copper (other metals are available too), combined with an organic binder and made into a pliable clay or paste with water. After working with the clay-like medium to form the article, it is thoroughly dried to remove all of the water, the shape is then further refined and then fired at high temperature to both burn off the binders and to cause the copper particles to fuse together as solid metal. Whilst the medium makes it possible to achieve things not possible with other metal forms, it is still quite time-consuming and there are several stages to achieving a nice finish.
The earrings drop 57mm (2") overall from the top of the large classic earwires and hang 14mm (0.55") at their widest in wear.
