Flower embossed button bead earrings in antiqued copper

Copper earrings featuring my own hand crafted button bead embossed with a shallow imprint of a flower pattern and gently shaped twisted sides. The beads are double wrapped on my own hand crafted copper ball ended headpins and hang from straight drop earwires.

I have hand crafted the main beads from copper precious metal clay and they feature a flower texture embossed on both sides and the ball ended headpin passes through the middle of the bead. The edges have been filed smooth and rounded for a lovely tactile finish and the earrings have been extensively polished and antiqued to bring out the flower pattern.

The earrings hang 40mm (>1½") overall from the top of the earwires and are 13mm (½") at their widest. All cut ends have been polished smooth for your comfort.

What is copper clay / precious metal clay?

Copper clay is a clay like medium made from tiny particles of copper (other metals are available too), combined with an organic binder and made into a pliable clay or paste with water. After working with the clay-like medium to form the article, it is thoroughly dried to remove all of the water, the shape is then further refined and then fired at high temperature to both burn off the binders and to cause the copper particles to fuse together as solid metal. It then needs extensive polishing to bring out the full beauty of the metal.
