Spotted glass bead and copper charm earrings
£36.00
Product Code: 21878f
Hand crafted copper earrings featuring hand made spotty textured and twisted oval copper charms dangling below copper lined glass beads with black spots.
The twisted oval charms have been hand made from copper clay, impressed with a spotted texture, cut and hand formed and later highly polished and antiqued to highlight the pattern. The ovals hang and move freely at the bottom of wire wrapped drops featuring two hand made glass beads which are clear glass above a sparkly metallic copper core twisted with strands of white and black with black spots beneath the surface. They have been shouldered with a pair of glossy black saucer beads and a slight spiral to the wire wrapping.
The copper has been antiqued to enhance the textures and patterns and all cut ends have been filed and polished smooth for your comfort.
What is copper clay / precious metal clay?
Copper clay is a clay like medium made from tiny particles of copper (other metals are available too), combined with an organic binder and made into a pliable clay or paste with water. After working with the clay-like medium to form the article, it is thoroughly dried to remove all of the water, the shape is then further refined and then fired at high temperature to both burn off the binders and to cause the copper particles to fuse together as solid metal. Whilst the medium makes it possible to achieve things not possible with other metal forms, it is still quite time-consuming and there are several stages to achieving a nice finish.
The earrings drop 59mm (2.3") overall from the top of the classic shaped wire wrapped earwires and hang 13mm (½") at their widest in wear.
