Hand crafted contemporary - and yet equally timeless - go-with-anything, Sterling silver post earrings, each featuring a solid molten nugget or pebble of Sterling silver. Each shiny pebble is attached to a polished post for comfortable wear.
The perfect pair of classic earrings to reach for when you don't have something to directly match your necklace or other silver jewellery.
They're a solid molten pebble of Sterling silver and the melting process has given rise to a delicate hint of reticulation on the surface. Reticulation is a surface wrinkle created by repeatedly heating to almost melting point and then rapidly cooling silver, which causes unpredictable and gorgeous textures on the surface. I had intended to polish these back to a smooth shine, but decided that I loved the surface texture just as it is, so I've polished them to a shine without smoothing the texture.
Because of the weight of the nuggets, I wanted to ensure a good secure back and the earring post/stud has been attached by soldering a hammered coil of silver to the polished back of the nuggets. Please see the additional photographs for images of the backs.
The pebbles are approximately 9mm (0.35") in diameter, although not perfectly round. They come, as shown, with a pair of Sterling silver butterfly backs, but I personally find studs easier to wear with soft silicone ear nuts, so I'll send a suitable selection of backs with them so that you choose your own preference.
